Dear PEI Public High Schools,
I would like to pass this message along to all high school teachers, guidance counselors, and students.
The Prince Edward Island Young Farmers Association is pleased to invite your students to attend an upcoming Agriculture Career and Nuffield Scholarship Panel, an engaging evening for those interested in exploring educational and career opportunities within the agricultural sector on Prince Edward Island.
📅 Date: Thursday, November 14
🕖 Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
📍 Location: The Pourhouse (above The Old Triangle), Charlottetown
The event will feature Jamie Heinrich, a Nuffield Scholar from Kangaroo Island, Australia, who will deliver a 30-minute presentation on his Nuffield experience, the qualifications required to apply for the scholarship, and his work with young farmers in Australia.
Following Jamie Heinrich’s presentation, there will be a panel discussion on agricultural careers, featuring:
- Ross Toebes, Co-owner, AgPro Workwear and Redag Farms
- Suz Brower Eastview Dairy and New Entrant Program
- Jake McKinnon Department of Agriculture and In the Red Farms
- The discussion will be moderated by Robert Larsen, President of PEI Young Farmers Association and Chair of 4-H Canada.
This event will provide valuable insight into the many career paths available in agriculture—from primary production and agri-business to innovation and leadership opportunities. Students will have the chance to hear directly from professionals in the industry and ask questions in an open, welcoming setting. Snacks will be provided.
We kindly ask that you share this invitation with any students or staff who may have an interest in agriculture or related fields. Should your students wish to attend or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at peiyfprogramcoordinator@gmail.com or [902-940-4125].
Thank you for your time and support in encouraging the next generation of agricultural leaders.
All the best
Jamie Ward
