This Week At Three Oaks

This Week at Three Oaks – April 22-26, 2024

Dear Students & Parents / Guardians

Thank you to those parents who came out for parent teacher interviews on Thursday evening and Friday. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with you and for you to find out next steps for your child as they work to earn their credits in the next 7.5 weeks.(  I can hardly believe I just wrote that - the year is slipping by quickly). We are all in this together.

It is important for students to see the importance of being in school and working hard each and every day. Not only are these qualities and habits serve you well in earning your credits, but also in your future as you begin your careers.

We understand that sometimes missing school is sometimes unavoidable due to sickness or unforeseen circumstances. Attendance has been an issue across Island schools, and I wanted to share with you our Three Oaks data up to April 5, 2024. When students do not consistently attend school, students are not getting the instruction that they need to be successful in their courses and get behind. In addition, it makes it stressful for students to get caught up on curriculum outcomes and assessments that are missed.  Teachers are working hard teaching and assessing where students are in their learning.  Please ensure if you miss a day, to contact your teacher and make arrangements to get caught up on what you missed.

Please see the table below which compares TOSH to other high schools across PEI.

Welcome Back to our band students who are returning from their trip to Montreal this   evening. Our heartfelt thank you goes out to our staff and parent chaperones who made this trip possible for these students:  Dr. Jonathan Sharpe, Janet Sharpe, RN,  Cassie Mosher-Gallant, Mrs. Bryson, Mrs. Caseley Smith and Mr. Kelly.

This Week:

Monday, April 22  is Earth Day. We all have a role to play in making our world a better place by valuing, respecting and protecting our Earth. One of the ways we can do this is making sure we throw garbage in the garbage cans both inside the school and outside. We have been noticing that there have been lunch containers dropped on the ground and left. We encourage everyone to do their part.

There will be draws for prizes again on Friday for those fully registered. Also, there will be a Captains meet at 11:25 on Thursday. There will be an announcement to call captains to the Lecture Theatre at that time.

Student Leadership Council - there will not be a regular council meeting this week as the Exec will be meeting.

Relay for Life Survivor Reception  - If you or someone you know is a cancer survivor,  please see the Survivor Reception Invitation that is attached at the bottom of this email. Do you have a child graduating in June?  Are they struggling to make a decision regarding next steps?

Whether they are considering entering the workforce or continuing their education through post-secondary, they may benefit from some guided support through the new Holland College program Pathways to College and Workplace Success before they dive into their career pathway.

Offered at both the Prince of Wales Campus in Charlottetown and the Waterfront Campus in Summerside for September 2024, this program will help you identify your strengths and interests. You will explore opportunities in different sectors by taking career-focused courses, going on industry visits, and participating in a workplace integrated learning placement.

Post Secondary education can be costly and time consuming.  Why not invest in putting your best foot forward through allowing yourself the education that will allow you to make a more informed decision on what you want in a career.

For more information or if you have any questions, please visit our site at:

Charlottetown Prince of Wales Campus:   https://www.hollandcollege.com/programs/pathways-to-college-and-workplace-success.php

Summerside Waterfront Campus:
